ANNAPOLIS, Md - Thousands of teachers in Wisconsin will receive the support of hundreds of Maryland workers in Annapolis Tuesday over the fight for better wages and benefits. Maryland workers will hold a rally in support of the teachers in Wisconsin. Teachers in the midwestern state entered their seventh day of strikes and rallies in the state capital of Madison. "Working people voted to create jobs, but politicians bankrolled by corporate CEOs are up to the same old tired politics, states Fred Mason, president of the Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO. "Instead of focusing on jobs, they're trying to weaken or eliminate workers' freedom to join unions so they can't serve as a check on corporate greed." Tuesday's rally will be held at Lawyers Mall. The Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO will hold what they are calling a "Solidarity Rally for Wisconsin's Working Families" at noon. |
