INITIATION FEE AND DUES

• We have a Union security agreement with the company. This means you must join the Union within thirty days from your first day of work. The initiation fee for Local 67 is $100.00, due after thirty days. Dues are paid once a month, and are at least 2 and 1/2 times the full hourly scale for your classification per month. Your dues start thirty days after your first day of employment.  lf you have questions about your dues, call the office ( 202-526-3600 ) or ask your Business agent. Once you are signed up your employer will automatically take your dues out of your pay and forward it to the Union.

WITHDRAWAL CARD AND TRANSFER

• Once you have initiated, if you leave your job for any reason, or if you will be off for an extended time due to illness, injury, leave of absence, or any other reason, you may request a withdrawal card. One will be issued after payment of all fines, assessments and all outstanding dues through the month in which your withdrawal card is issued, plus a fifty cent fee. This withdrawal card is good until you return to work at any Teamster job. As long as you leave a Local with an Honorable Withdrawal card, you will not have to pay another initiation fee at any other Teamster Local. If you return to work you only have to deposit your withdrawal card and pay your current dues for the remainder of the quarter. If you have taken a withdrawal card, you may start work in any Teamster job by showing the withdrawal card to that Union along with payment of a transfer fee. That fee will vary, as it is one month's dues at the last Local you worked in, plus fifty cents.

MEETINGS

• There is a general meeting every third Thursday of the month except in June, July and August. We meet at the Union Hall on Bladensburg Road at 7:00 pm. The meetings usually last about an hour.  We discuss the affairs of Local 67 and other things that may affect our membership.

  Meeting notices will be posted in advance of all these meetings, so if there is a change it will be noted on your Union bulletin board. This is your union so we ask that you take an active part and occasionally attend our meetings.
